Henderson Group, which owns the SPAR, EUROSPAR, and ViVO grocery brands in Northern Ireland and Applied Data Corporation (ADC), the leading global provider of store operations platforms built for grocery and convenience retailers, today announced their partnership. Specifically, the 120 plus-year-old retail grocery business will utilise ADC’s fresh item management platform for recipe management and label printing.

One area of important focus for the partnership surrounds the Natasha Law regulations set to impact UK food retailers starting 1 October 2021. This new allergen law requires that pre-packed food for direct sale clearly display and emphasise allergen ingredient information (i.e., bolded text, underlined text, or text in a different colour).

“We are excited to partner with the Henderson Group. Their long history in the industry coupled with ADC’s FreshIQ® platform will provide their customers with compliant nutrition food labels they can trust,” says Shamus Hines, ADC CEO.

FreshIQ® will enable the Henderson Group to stay compliant with the new regulations. The platform is an easy-to-use, cloud-based solution that includes recipe management to identify and track necessary ingredients and nutritional information and label printing to support design, customisation, and legally compliant printing of fresh food labels.

“As a food retailer, it is our responsibility to provide customers with the information they need regarding allergens and the food they consume,” states Darren Nickels, Henderson Group. “The nature of food retail is complex, and it is critical that the technology we use helps us build, track, and maintain legally compliant recipes across our organisation.”

Henderson Group is fully live with FreshIQ® and providing their customers with compliant food labels prior to Natasha’s Law coming into effect on 1 October 2021.
