East London jeweller PureJewels won the “Best Innovation in Business 2021” category at the Newham Chamber of Commerce business awards.
It was the second time that PureJewels, located in the Green Street jewellery quarter, has won the best innovation category after winning the award in 2019.
Newham is one of the largest boroughs in London.
PureJewels won the award in recognition of 400 percent growth in visits to its e-commerce site over the past two years during the pandemic, developing the retailer into one of the most visible suppliers of Eastern-inspired jewellery in the UK; and for expanding in the UK by opening authorised stockists who carry PureJewels as a brand.
PureJewels’ Green Street store and e-commerce site supply 22-carat gold jewellery and a wide range of cutting-edge designs, many of them set with diamonds and coloured gemstones.
“Winning the Best Innovation in Business category is a testament to how we have pivoted as a business during the pandemic,” PureJewels CEO Jayant Raniga said after the event held at the Old Town Hall, Stratford, on November 18.
“We have continuously invested and developed technology and systems that enable us to become a truly omni-channel company. This enables us to focus on our customers’ needs with greater efficiency and to focus on expansion and growth in the coming year. We have implemented technology that allows us to deliver our stock products next day throughout the UK.”
Lloyd Johnson, Chairman of Newham Chamber of Commerce, said, ““It’s great to see so much innovation in one borough, but Jayant of PureJewels by Bhanji Gokaldas and his team are commended for showing real change and innovation, transforming their business in the jewellery industry.”
The awards ceremony was attended by special guest Stephen Timms MP, and by Rokhsana Fiaz, Mayor of Newham.
The judges visited shortlisted applicants, including PureJewels, before selecting the winners.
