Amazon Prime Day creates surge in parcel traffic for Collect+

Data from Collect+, the in-store parcel service from PayPoint, has revealed a huge surge in Amazon parcel collections at convenience stores as shoppers took advantage of Amazon Prime Day (12-13 July) sales.

For the week containing the annual deal event, the number of parcels collected by consumers across 10,000 Collect+ stores nationwide was 49,956, a 20% increase on the seven days prior of 41,783.

In addition, the data also reveals that there was a 13.3% increase from last year’s Amazon Prime Day during the same seven-day period which recorded 43,817 parcels collected, as shoppers sought to take advantage of discounts and offers amid the soaring cost of living.

Nick Williams, Head of Strategic Partners and Product at PayPoint said: “Online shoppers have always been eagle eyed when it comes to online discounts and the surge in parcel deliveries during Amazon Prime Day is testament to more people than ever seeking bargains amid the rising cost of living, inflation and other economic pressures.

“It’s another reason why it’s important that online retailers consider how they can enhance the customer experience by giving shoppers the option and accessibility of picking up a parcel at an out-of-home location, of their choosing, at a time that’s convenient for them.”
