Leading independent retailer Daniall Nadeem, with a convenience store on Motherwell Road in Bellshill, North Lanarkshire in Scotland, has joined SPAR.
The independent retailer has moved symbol group to SPAR Scotland following five years with Nisa. Retailing has been in the Nadeem family for over 20 years and Daniall has been in the business since he was only 17 years old, opening the Motherwell Road store at the age of 18.
The 2,500sqft SPAR store is situated on the grounds on a former pub in Bellshill and offers several community services including PayPoint, Lottery, hot food, Costa Coffee, Revolution 24/7 Laundrette, a thriving Snappy Shopper home delivery, Tango Ice Blast, Equis Ice Cream, Collect+ Parcel Service, and a free to use ATM.
Daniall Nadeem said: “I am very proud to be a member of the SPAR Scotland retailer community, under the inspiring leadership of CJ Lang & Son Ltd. I’m genuinely impressed by the strong family atmosphere and the superb support offered by the entire team – from dedicated BDMs, to the efficient and responsive head office marketing, retail and distribution crew, all working seamlessly to ensure our success and growth.”
Having admired CJ Lang and SPAR Scotland in recent years Daniall states that the group is renowned for service, brand recognition and a fantastic infrastructure. “After learning so much about retail over the last six years, SPAR Scotland and CJ Lang’s offering and their drive to constantly improve and advance in all sectors including food-to-go and technology, along with being at the forefront of retail and winning awards, has really aligned with my plans for the future.
“I was looking to make the change because I felt SPAR could help me develop my business for the future. I was looking for a partner that could not only develop my store, but also help me develop as a retailer. We as retailers are constantly learning and growing, and I feel comfortable growing with SPAR.
“I’m really looking forward to getting to know the entire team. CJ Lang is not just a wholesale and managed convenience store business, it’s there with a fantastic support network for retailers. My growth plans have been listened to and most importantly actioned upon very quickly. I personally find it difficult to put a price on this kind of service and the welcome I’ve received to the SPAR family.”
Craig Lynn, Head of Recruitment & Key Accounts for CJ Lang & Son Ltd, commented: “I am delighted Daniall has chosen SPAR as the symbol group to drive his business forward. Adding retailers of this calibre shows how attractive the SPAR package is, and I look forward to supporting Daniall with his upcoming refit. “
Brian Straiton, Independent Sales Director for CJ Lang & Son Ltd, added: “We are really pleased to be working with Daniall and his team. We are delighted that he’s made the switch to join SPAR. Joining the SPAR family is about a working partnership and everything we are doing is to support and grow independent retailer businesses like Daniall’s.
“We look forward to helping Daniall grow his business and we aim to have a long partnership with one of the best and youngest Scottish independent retailers. It is really refreshing to see the passion he has for retail at such a young age and how ambitious his plans are for the future. It really is exciting times at SPAR Scotland.”
