Following the collapse of Wilko, which left 12,000 employees jobless and 400 stores out of business, The Range came in to save the beloved brand acquiring Wilko’s brand, website, and intellectual property. The Range’s boss has confirmed the opening of two new stores today, with plans for hundreds more in the pipeline.

With the Range set to build a state-of-the-art 1.2million square feet distribution unit at Gateway 14, a new logistics park in Suffolk, there are huge plans set out for the retailer, with Tony George, Head of Logistics at The Range commenting on their sustainability stance and how this will shape The Range’s future:

“We already have two existing major distribution hubs in the UK and this new site with its proximity to the Port of Felixstowe will provide green benefits through fewer delivery miles for both inbound stock and onward deliveries to The Range stores.”

With the planned growth of The Range and the new logistics hub in the pipeline, Lucie Hyde, Managing Director of LNH Transport has commented on the growth of The Range and gives her thoughts on why the stores growth has been so successful:

“It is clear that The Range have ambitious growth plans and it is great to see them re-opening some of the Wilko stores after buying the brand back in October. With deliveries spanning from the UK to International, their supply chain is trusted and price competitive which is crucial in our current landscape, with the cost-of-living crisis at the forefront.

“Logistics is a vital part of a successful business, and it looks like The Range will continue to invest in its supply chain. Strategically located in Hounslow, providing easy access to the South East, South West, East and West Midlands, ‘Range Logistics’ prides themselves in being a dependable link to its customers supply chain.

“Heading into retail’s busiest period and with product demand at its highest, managing the logistics, transportation and storage of your products whether this is via internal or external transport and logistics teams, will be key to a high-street retailers’ success during this challenging time.”
