Avery Dennison (NYSE:AVY), a global leader in materials science and digital identification solutions, has announced the launch of Optica, its first full-service portfolio of end-to-end supply chain solutions, which will start by addressing a series of traceability challenges within the apparel industry.
Optica draws on Avery Dennison’s decades of experience driving supply chain resilience, operational control, data transparency, and sustainability – from source to retail. The portfolio combines RFID smart labels, the atma.io connected product cloud, other industry leading software, in-field hardware, and technical support to provide factories and brands with greater control and visibility into manufacturing and supply chain data. This provision empowers factories and brands to take a proactive approach and make more informed decisions that help reduce waste, minimize inventory loss, boost profitability, and strengthen partner and consumer trust. It also helps address regulatory changes, enable compliance, and can be integrated into Digital Product Passport (DPP) initiatives.
Optica solutions for enhancing supply chain efficiency and transparency:
- Materials Traceability enables verifiable tracking and transparency of the upstream supply chain. It allows clients to create a “bill-of-material” containing product origin and composition on item-level, and link transactional documents and compliance certificates along the product journey.
- On-Demand Labeling allows for responding to last-minute label needs. It enables the right balance between ordering labels from a central location and the ability to print and encode labels on-site, driven by one online platform and data management system.
- Packing Verification reduces inventory problems and mitigates disputes from inaccurate shipments. It allows factories to finish, pack and validate content against the packing plan to improve accuracy. Scan results are consolidated in the atma.io connected product cloud, where they can be visualized in the factory dashboard to provide a critical traceability read point for goods leaving the factory.
- Inbound and Outbound Verification minimizes inventory loss and optimizes claim management. It enables item-level order accuracy in a highly automated, low-touch, high-volume warehouse and distribution center environment. It automates rejections and fixes discrepancies efficiently, with a tailored dashboard to increase visibility.
Sergio Shmilovitch, VP strategy, M&A and solutions, Avery Dennison, says: “Lack of visibility costs the industry billions each year, and erodes trust between partners and consumers. By connecting the physical to the digital, Optica makes on-demand visibility and real-time data possible, helping brands optimize their operations, reduce their risks, and improve their sustainability performance”.
