After celebrating their 50th anniversary in 2022, cash handling experts Volumatic are celebrating once again this year

After celebrating their 50th anniversary in 2022, cash handling experts Volumatic are celebrating once again this year, as their ground-breaking CountEasy money counting scales turn 20 years old!

It was back in the Spring of 2004 that Volumatic first launched the CountEasy, their simple-to-use money counter, and it quickly became one of Volumatic’s best-selling devices, praised for its accuracy, small footprint and ease-of-use.

With the ability to count a till drawer in less than a minute, the CountEasy has helped businesses across the globe count notes and coins with ease, assisting them in becoming more efficient in their end-of-day cash processing and allowing staff to spend more time on other essential jobs.

Following on from the original CountEasy, the CountEasy IP was launched, which features an integrated printer to give its customers a physical printed record of daily counts. This was followed in 2014 by the ground-breaking CountEasy TS – the first-ever intelligent touchscreen money counting scales to be launched, which also boasts an IP version.

The original CountEasy had an exciting upgrade in the summer of 2022, when it was relaunched following customer feedback with additional features and functionality including a larger backlit screen, float capability a USB port, the possibility of configuration for up to 32 languages and the capacity to switch to an additional currency.

All versions of the CountEasy also work with Volumatic’s CountEasy Connect driver software which enables the transfer of count data from the CountEasy directly into a Windows PC via a USB cable. This allows customers to automatically populate a spreadsheet or back-office application, saving significant time and removing the opportunity for manual errors.

The first major CountEasy customer was frozen food giants, Iceland Foods, who rolled out the CountEasy to its entire estate in 2004, and still uses them to this day.

Other long-term CountEasy customers include Dobbies, Card Factory, Halfords, Marston’s, Mitchells & Butlers, Royal Bank of Scotland, Santander, Welcome Break, and The British Library.

Iceland Foods’ Consumables & Process Manager, Lee Boswell, has high praise for the CountEasy, especially having used the device and seen the benefits of it back in the days when he was a Store Manager, commenting: We’re always looking at easier ways to help our stores run more efficiently and the CountEasy helps us do that by speeding up counting, improving accuracy and giving us more time to spend with our customers.

“The CountEasy was ahead of its time 20 years ago, and the fact that we’re still using it today and it’s still providing us with improvements in both efficiency and accuracy speaks for itself. We plan to keep using these machines for a long time.”

Volumatic Managing Director James Harris is proud of the history of the CountEasy and the legacy it has within Volumatic, stating: “The CountEasy is 20 years old, but that doesn’t mean it’s old technology – we’ve continually updated and upgraded all of our CountEasy devices to make them consistently accurate, reliable and easy to operate – and our customers love them.

“Volumatic is fast approaching the sale of our 100 thousandth CountEasy device, and it continues to go from strength to strength – here’s to the next 20 years of CountEasy!”
