New data from Visualsoft shows strong revenue and order growth across key categories as shoppers turn to alternative gifts and last-minute buys.
Easter 2025 is on track to be a strong period for UK retailers, with revenue and order volumes rising across several core categories including DIY, Home Furnishings, and Gifts. Although average order values have dipped slightly, the upward trend in total orders suggests that consumers are still spending - just with a more value-conscious mindset. Stats from Global Data suggest a 40% increase in spend across food, drinks and gifts but Visualsoft have found it goes far beyond these typical purchases.
Shoppers are moving beyond traditional chocolate gifts and embracing items that feel more personal, practical or creative. From blooming Lego kits and stuffed toys to DIY crafts and gardening packs, Easter is evolving into a season of thoughtful, alternative gifting.
Revenue has continued to climb:
- Furniture, Home Furnishings & DIY has seen a 14% increase in revenue since 2022
- Gifts, Gadgets & Gaming has more than doubled in revenue compared to three years ago
- Sports, Outdoors & Recreation has grown by around 13% in the same period
Order volumes are also trending up:
- Gifts, Gadgets & Gaming saw orders rise by over 150% since 2022
- Sports, Outdoors & Recreation has experienced a 30% increase in orders
- Furniture, Home Furnishings & DIY orders are up overall, though slightly down from a peak in 2024
- DIY continues to perform strongly, with order values growing by more than 40% over the last three years
Despite this growth in activity, Average Order Values are down across most sectors. This likely reflects ongoing cost-of-living concerns and broader global economic pressures. For example, in Furniture, Home Furnishings & DIY, AOV dropped from £235.54 in 2024 to £221.02 this year, and in Sports, Outdoors & Recreation, it fell from £95.79 to £82.05.
Jen Pollard, Data Analyst at Visualsoft says: “Easter is starting to mirror Christmas in how people approach gifting and home styling. From garlands and wreaths to meaningful presents for kids and adults, there’s a growing appetite for doing Easter differently and retailers who embrace this shift are seeing the benefits.”
With Click and Collect and next-day delivery keeping pace with last-minute demand, and platforms like TikTok and Pinterest fuelling interest in creative alternatives to chocolate, Easter 2025 looks set to deliver strong results for retailers across the board.
