Contact raises £3 million to build a global platform where millions of fashion creatives can earn and learn

17 May, 22

Since starting in 2020, Contact has upended the fashion industry by directly connecting models, photographers and hair & makeup artists with bookers and agents. This means clients can book creatives directly on the platform – a process that is historically labour-intensive. The startup has today announced it has raised a £3 million Seed round.

With Contact, creatives don’t have to worry about payment terms, contracts, or other details. Similarly, bookers can access a huge range of diverse talent in seconds, without needing to call multiple agents.

Clients can shortlist and book creatives in just a few clicks. Contact verifies all jobs to make sure they’re appropriate, as well as handling paperwork and payment. Creatives can manage their work on the go with Contact’s mobile app.

Contact’s community has grown rapidly in the past year, consisting of over 900 creatives and 2,000 brands across retail, high-end fashion sectors and creative industries including the likes of Balenciaga, Vogue, Urban Outfitters, Primark and many more.

Over 2,000 jobs have been booked via the platform and Contact doesn’t charge creatives a penny. In fact, creatives have saved £865,000 in commission and fees so far.

Now, Contact has its sights set on the rest of Europe’s $104.2 billion creative industry. In July 2022, it’ll open up the platform to become an even bigger home for all creators.

The expansion is all part of Contact’s mission to be the key destination for creatives to manage their careers and get paid. The long-term mission is to support creatives everywhere to make a full time living on Contact. With Contact handling all the admin and technical pieces, the company empowers creatives to focus on the important thing – their craft.

Rhino Ventures instantly connected with Contact’s mission. Rhino Ventures believe in breaking down the financial and technical barriers for upcoming entrepreneurs and creatives.

“We are excited to partner with Rhino Ventures as we continue to work toward our vision of empowering creatives to drive their own distribution and monetization. With this funding, we will be able to accelerate the development of product features and tools that continue to expand the opportunity set, both economically and creatively, for creative talent everywhere.” Reuben Selby, Contact Founder & CEO.

David Hogarth, partner at Rhino Ventures says “Contact’s solution empowers the middle class of both creatives and brands to find success in an industry that largely neglected them. By providing a scalable platform for creative talent to manage and grow their businesses, creatives worldwide can focus on what they do best. In an industry long overdue for disruption, Reuben and the team at Contact seem like they were born to deliver it.”
